And here I am again posting at the weirdest of hours. This time my Sega jewel case template comes in handy for the Sega CD case. And I bring you Snatcher, one of the coolest and unique games for the system!

A couple things before I let you all respond here... With the exception of the screenshots, there is no original Snatcher material here. It's all from other sources, or made from scratch. You'll recognize Summer Glau and the Terminator at the top both from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The man on the front is Alan Ladd; that particular picture is from the 1942 film "This Gun For Hire." Metal Gear Mk. II comes courtesy of Metal Gear Solid 4 (and he's actually in this game anyway...irony). The skyline is that of New York City, and the tower is in Dubai. I think that covers it.

I wanted to try something different here. Hope you all like it. Please enjoy in full!

this looks fantastic.
I like how you put things from different movies together for this box and I love the Metal Gear Mk. II on the front ^^

hopefully kojima will make a new snatcher game or a remake in the future.

Thank you all for your support with this box so far! I really wasn't sure how it was going to go simply because I didn't use any original artwork/images from the game. No risk, no reward! And I am glad the risk has paid off so far!

When I see all these high ranking authors saying things like this, it's a really good feeling. It's an even better feeling when I read back at my Dragon Warrior IV box and see similar comments about it being the best retro box here. To me, that means I keep improving! Thank you again, and I hope that everyone else that visits here enjoys as much as you guys have!

Without any original artwork, it amazes me even more on how you were able to pull it off so perfectly. Keep up the good work, dude! (:

#9: Thanks man! But, don't give me TOO much credit here. I don't think I could pull that off with many games. This game takes a lot of influence from Blade Runner, Terminator, etc... so it's easy to replicate a lot of the popular motifs that make up the genre. It would be much harder, and a worthy challenge, to try this with other titles... but something I am up to trying!

Thanks again, sirs!!!

#13: Thanks sir. This is actually one of the only boxarts I have done where I am happy with the complete package. Most of the time, I think a certain part of the box just doesn't match up with the rest in terms of style/design/quality... most of the time it winds up being the back but sometimes the front. I think I got a good balance on this one. I'm really happy that everyone so far is really into this one!

Thanks guys!

Added a Version 2. I realized that the license info at the bottom left of the front still had Sega Saturn written instead of Sega CD. It's a small detail, but I'm pretty proud of this box, so I wanted to make sure I made that correction!

Guys...I know you've ignored other incredible boxes in the past and have only paid attention to overused, generic designs, but please...this box CAN'T go ignored, wickus is too good a designer for that.

#18: Kind words, sir. Thank you. However, I don't think people are ignoring this box, or others for that matter. It's just the nature of the way the site is set up... it's pretty fast paced here with all the users and the many submissions that are posted each day. I know for a fact that I miss stuff that I am sure I would be a fan of and probably favorite, but between work, home, and my other projects I don't have much time to explore every nook and cranny of the page. I don't expect others to have the time to do that as well. When I do have time, I like to explore and it's neat going back and seeing some awesome things. So, if/when someone sees my artwork and wants to add a favorite, then I thank them. But I would never consider my work to be ignored simply because users aren't clicking a favorite button. /shrug. The fact that you are adamant about this box is enough reward for me! =)

#19: There will be a time, I'm sure of it. =P It's hard trying to make each box better than the last. I am up against a good one here, in my opinion, so it may be some time before I am ready to post it.

#23: I spoke really soon, because you came along and gave it that extra push! Thank you! =)

#24: I'm glad you love it sir. I'd like to do another box in the same style as well, however I don't want to get played out too soon and also I need to make the right game choice as well.

Any suggestions on a similar style box let me know!

Darkwickus,

Excellent work. As you state (in comment 12), it is very difficult to create a box that captures the same aesthetics as the game if you do not use any source material from the game. The influence of Blade Runner and other cyberpunk, dystopian sci-fi works upon Snatcher made it possible to capture the same aesthetics without using the source material of the game, but as I said, capturing that is not easy.

This was a very pleasant and late find from the Random HOF panel.

Excellent job! Would you mind sharing the Sega CD box template? I'm working on something and would love to use one. Or, tell me where I can learn to make one?
