This is my entry for Drakx's Custom Art Competition (Round One). I really hope I'm not doing anything wrong by posting it.
Anyway, Desolo Rex translates from Latin to "Abandoned King." The general storyline here is that the main character (Named Artex, though you'll not see it on the box) is prophesized to overthrow his father, a powerful, magic, King of the World. His father then cast him from their society (One filled with powerful magic and whatnot) into one of poverty and the weak. The main character learns of this through ways I haven't really bothered to think out, and then sets out to get revenge and overthrow his father.
The girl on the back is another villain, the main character's sister who is loyal to their father. I thought it would be interesting to have a spellcaster who writes out spells on scrolls and loads them into a gun to fire them off, thus explaining why she has a handgun.
I originally wanted to do a screenshot or two, probably through photoshopping some RPG's screenshot, but I was running out of time and motivation, and I couldn't find an appropriate screenshot. Hope you enjoy it. As always, critiques are welcome and strongly encouraged.
I'd also like to say good luck to StevenCho, my opponent for this round.
I know you're trying not to conceal the sketches on the back, but I think you should add some small screenshots at the bottom. The back looks just a little bit empty.
I think the art itself is nice, but as a box it feels to be quite lacking. I understand that yes, making that art would of been difficult, but as a box it feels really empty. I'd suggest adding screens on the back to start and something to spice the front up.
I can understand the desire for screenshots, but I would also be against them if their inclusion at all took away from the awesome subtly of the artwork on the back. This is a fantastic job. I love the colors and the interesting "Mark of Kri" vibe the characters are done in.
Big kudos for coming up with your own game as well Slyder. Awesome job, and best of luck in the contest.
Sweet, this is looking great. The lack of screenshots is fine with me, as I really like the art style and covering up the back images with screens would be a shame. Nice work!
#3, I agree. I like his sketches, but the back does seem a bit too empty. I think it would have looked really nice if the sketches were just the background and if he had the colored drawings in the foreground. It would have taken up the space and you wouldn't have had to mess with making your own screenshots.
I'd rather it be in 3D, if someone has a high resolution template for 3Ding it let me know. I just don't want to go through the trouble of finding a decent one. (All of the ones I've seen in the resource threads are way too small.)

Other than that, it's great.

No problems in submitting Slyder :)

Thanks for the templates, guys. I've updated it with a much nicer presentation (One inspired directly by Wasa-bi's classy style.)
I used ADFD's template, so a special thanks to him as well.
