Hmm.... I love U2, as you know, but for me, War was about the victims, the cost of War, not the dedication to it. By having Uncle Sam on the front, covered in blood, as well as the blood splatters on the front, you seem to be romanticizing the idea of war that was shown in the 40's, the idea of how being a soldier is the good life, and every man's real wish, whereas the album was more about the horrors of war. Know what I mean? It's a good design, good editing, but imo doesn't fit the album.
Yeah, i like it, but i agree 100% with Koopa, you've gotta be careful that the image doesn't heavily represent the opposite of what your intending it to. Uncle Sam, as a whole, is a strict representation of pro-war views, nationalism and Americana, for which U2 would take a definite stance against. Using him in this context doesn't really work and sends a confusing message.
As i said i do like the boxart and the editing, but in agreence with Koopa, it doesn't fit the feel and message of the album. Great attempt at a politicl style box though, i'll be on the lookout for more of your boxes in the future.
@Reza and KD
When i hear this album i hear sadness in it, And a message in the album. But when i hear Songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" i hear lyrics are talking about what's going on while the song is playing. So with this box i decided to add a Protest type of feeling.
Hmmmm, okay then. It makes more sense now you've said that, i can see your angle now. Maybe some protestors along the bottom could re-enforce this a bit more? Either way, i like the direction its going.
Wheres that MGS box?
