I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. All of the characters in the game (except for Banjo & Kazooie who are exclusive to the 360 version) are on the front.

I suggest viewing full.

It would seem like the front would be too plain, but it isn't, the cover overall looks very official looking.

Very nice but one minor problem, get rid of the "only for PlayStation"

#9, Completely forgot about that. I usually only make PS3 exclusive boxes. Fixed.

Very nice, and very impressive, and the front is perfect, and the back is near perfect, it just lacks one thing, a description. You could put 3 screenshots on the side (bordered) then write any description in the same text you used for the headings.

#11, I tried doing that but there honestly wasn't much to put into the description that wasn't already made abundantly clear by the tagline. I mean, everyone knows that this game is just Mario Kart with Sega characters.

#12, Yeah, true, but I just thought it would be HOF worthy if it had one.

#13, Alas, there was no place for it and any description would've been pointless fluff.

#23, I dunno, I just feel certain boxes that should be in Hof get over looked so a wallpaper can get in instead... Ok, The back isn't bad, nothing special, but not bad. But the front, just a official peice.

#24, Perish the thought that a box artist would use official artwork. Oh wait--you did, too.
link

I just happened to find better artwork.

But I'll be the first to admit that I don't consider this to be my best box art because I didn't work the hardest/spend the most time on it. My best box is probably one of my Essence boxes or my Dragon Age box because those are the ones I was truly invested in. I only made this because I had the artwork to do so. But considering the number of rabid Sonic fans on this site, I'm not surprised it was so well received.

My end goal in any box is to make it look clean and relatively official. I feel that I accomplished that with this.

#25, Are you serious? Mine wasn't pre-made artwork slapped on a temp. I actually made that! Your's is obviously a big wallpaper, I've seen it! Don't give me that bullshit... The back of this is just "ok" but when the front is not even real work, it kinda doesn't matter.
Look, I relise this is your first Hall entry, I relise this probably makes you happy, but goddman son! Put actual work in next time, not just somthing you found you thought looked good.

#26, Hey is it my fault that the boxes I actually put more work into didn't get HoF? I didn't ask for this to get HoF. It just did. I'd much rather one of my better boxes had gotten HoF.

As far as I can tell, you didn't do that much more work on your box. It's not like you slaved away on it--it certainly doesn't look like it. Mine might just be 'premade artwork slapped on a temp' but yours is just 'premade artwork slapped on a temp with two screenshots as the background.' You didn't slave away on that. And from the looks of the low res render on your back, looks like you didn't devote much attention to that part, either.

But like I said--it's not my choice what boxes of mine get faved. Just don't make such a big deal about the HoF. (Which you do--you bumped your Sonic box by saying "Why in hell is it so hard for me to make Hall?!")

The fact is I never really cared for this box. I have no investment in it whatsoever. I'm not that proud of it, either, because I know I didn't have to put that much effort in to make it look good.

I can tell you right now that this is definitely not my best work. At all. But it got HoF because of the number of Sonic fans on the site. Check out some of my other boxes and tell me those are "something I found that I thought looked good."

#27, 1. Were not talking about me. 2. Don't make excuses.
"I didn't choose for this to get hof" You chose to upload it, you chose to use a wallpaper for half of it just because it looked good.

I didn't say you put it in hof, I said you uploaded a lazy, box, the thing that gets me anoyed is that people actually put it in hof.

#28, Actually it wasn't a wallpaper. It was a piece of artwork. Then I rendered the logo and put it on top. Clean and official looking. Adding shit just so you can say "durr I added shit" won't improve a box.

And I wasn't that lazy--I quite like the back and it took awhile to track down an ultra high-resolution version of that piece of art. Especially on February 8th before sites started posting it.

The fact is that it's more than a wallpaper and because I knew that the front wasn't "mine" I decided to compensate for it with a back. I'm happy with the result, and judging by the HoF and number of faves, so are many others.

And I don't appreciate you presuming to know how much work went into this before I decided to go with the group shot. Originally, I had the group shot on the back and several renders of different characters arranged on the front but in the end I decided to switch it because it looked better.

Oh and would you mind addressing the fact that your version of the box also features 'premade artwork slapped on a template?' The only real difference being a slightly angled logo and two blown up screenshots?

I just read everything, and this is how I see it.

Before I make any box, I look at every single box on this website that is for the same game. After doing that, I can determine what image, render, background, or wallpaper I can use that hasn't been used before. It's not always about how much work was put into the front, (even though this is a respectable factor), it's sometimes about how smart the artist was, or how much the artist, searched and searched for an image that makes for a good front, and one that no one else has used.

#30, I do that too. Whenever I stumble across an image that would look great on a box, I assume that someone else did it first and I check every other box on the site. If someone has done something similar, I scrap the idea and move on.

And I do think that a lot of work goes into tracking down the resources you need. Good assets don't just fall into people's laps.
