#5, You can't order me to do something (and if you're gonna do it, at least don't use the word "fucking").
You can politely say that it might look pretty good without the grunge, like you did in #3. I know you've said countless times on the forums that you aren't and don't wanna be polite, but still, it's just common sense.
However, just to annoy you, I'm off to make a Silent Hill with "fucking, shiny, clean, sterile graphics".
Now, I'm going to fix this box. Even though I wanted it to be distinctive from other Portal boxes, it would actually be much better for Portal 2 on which Aperture's installations have deteriorated.
#2, I couldn't think of a description awesome enough to fit the game.
Oh, and credit to Sarashi for the awesome template.
#10, the box is good and I personally think the grunge does fit - maybe not entirely with the style of the game, but it's refreshing to see some new creativity. A higher contrast might help, however, as it is slightly dark. Increasing the contrast, rather than the brightness, will make it seem brighter without appearing washed out.
#10, I respect that you want to do something atypical, but it's like making a Halo game with a pink logo. It clashes with everything about the game's general style and what people expect from it.
Besides, even if a grunge look DID fit with portal, you have to compliment it with other aspects of the box. You can't just make a box like normal and then put a shitty grunge filter on top of it to be "different." That's a horrible decision from a design standpoint.
If you want it to be grunge, you should make the entire thing grungy. Instead of super clean-cut images, text, icons, etc. give them more jagged edges. Make their color genuinely look deteriorated. Add scratches, tears, etc. (Instead, this whole thing looks like a really nice box that's crisp and clean with a dirty sheet of glass being held over it.)
Celebrating the release of Steam and Portal on Mac OS, here's my latest box made 100% on Adobe Photoshop CS2 Macintosh Edition: Portal.
Too bad I can't run it.

back seems a bit too blank

Get rid of that grunge and most of that darkness, and it might be pretty good.

#3, I actually think the grunge works quite well. It's a nice contrast to the usual solid colour graphics that are on other boxes.
Nice work.

It's out of place for this title.
Silent Hill game: Use grunge.
Portal: Fucking use shiny, clean, sterile, graphics.
It's common sense. While you're at it, why don't you make a Zelda game with splatt- Oh goddamnit, I forgot, someone's already done that.

#3, I agree very much so.

I'd like to see a version without the grunge. But even if you decide to keep it, I think you should try brightening it up.

Yeah, everyone's right. You should definitely increase the brightness.

#11, OK, I increased the contrast (I also added a little brightness it wouldn't look as weird), and now it's a little brighter. I hope it's better =D
(don't look at v2, it's the wrong version... and it has a weird rating)

Love this box.

The higher contrast looks better - it actually reminds me of some of the floor/wall tile textures. Good work.
