I just got paint.NET and know zilch about how to use it. If I paste an image, the white in it stays there. Even with the cool features, I can't make a good box if I don't know how to fix that. Any suggestions?

You use the wand tool to select the white (Should be black if it's a good render, 4srs) and then press delete.

have you tried photoshop elements or the gimp? they're easy to use and much more better than paint!

I know Photoshop costs money, which my mom refuses to spend.

But gimp is free, download it and you will make better boxarts very fast!
