Although it is your first, I'm going to be just a tad harsh here: If you are going to make a box art for a game, use artwork from that game. You're using Super Meroid art (or quite possibly Metroid 2) for a Fusion box.
Yet shockingly, what you did with the title in Paint, the white outline around the text actually looks like an effect if you don't look at the full sized image.
Anyhoo, it's fairly well in Paint. I'm no PhotoShop expert here (that's why you'll see no artwork from me on the site), so I'd say read some of the guides in the forums and try your luck there.
And that black bar at the bottom...try to do something with that.

The logo cuts off, and the pic needs to be resized to fill the space, but it's not too bad for a first. 2.5/5
