Going for something a little different this time, it's Crysis for the 360! Huzzah!

Hope you guys like this one, took me a little while to get it just right.

Amazing, but should the coptright info be blended into the back instead of that black box?

Anyways this is hall of fame material

Well, I'm not impressed. WickedGamer was right, you guys put anything in the HoF these days.

You can't avoid using grunge effects can you? It worked well for your Spartan:TW and Stalker box but it doesn't suit the style of Crysis. Honestly, this looks exactly like your conviction box is some ways.

I really think you have potential to do different styles. This is the sort of thing Koopadasher said about anime boxes - over-use of one style. You are overusing grunge and hexagon effects...and there aren't a lot of "real" artists here so they'll blindly accept the same thing again and again.

Obviously this box is much better than the average box art, but I'd honestly like to see something truly "different" from you.

Sorry if I sounded harsh, but I thought I'd say the truth rather saying "its awesome" and give you a false sense of satisfaction. I honestly want to see more versatile and competitive artists on this site. That's what makes it fun and challenging to stay around. :)

No #9, you're right. You werent harsh. You gave constructive criticism. Grunge doesnt fit the theme of Crysis, but I dig the colors on the front, and like the overall design of the back (minus the grunge). But in my opinion, I think it deserves to be Favorited by me.

#9, i agree that artists should try different things and be skilled in many different areas but i think dustgunner has a distinct style and i have nothing wrong with it as long as his boxes aren't identical, which they're not.

#9, Some people are grunge artists, some people aren't. I am. So all my boxes are going to have a grunge effect to them - I'm not going to change my style because someone's sick of it. I respect your opinion but you are not the end-all-be-all designer and I really think this box is something different.

It may be slightly grunge on the box, but a grunge box is something like my Spartan Total Warrior Box, not like this. This is much more organized and slick. You should judge my boxes individually - after all when you're holding a design in front of a publisher, they don't care if it looks like your other designs, they care if it looks good.

Even though this box isn't really grungy at all except for the top left of the back, I'll make a strictly no-grunge box next time and we'll see if you like that better.

As someone who has been in the graphic design field for a few years i'm going to have to respectfully disagree with Dustgunner's statement that publishers don't care if your designs look alike.

As far as this piece goes i think the colors are fantastic and overall i feel this is your best design yet. Nice job. ^^d

I agree with dms on this and I personally admit that I love your style especially on your spartan box. but when someone says they're not going to change their style because someone's sick of it period, sounds a little single minded to me, don't get me wrong I love this box and your other boxes and you're a great artist. Seeing different styles is what this site is all about though, looking at gunslinger's boxes...they're clean smooth and well designed too, grunge or not. I may be a beginning artist (amateur if you wanna call me) but I admit I'm willing to try different styles and design depending on the boxes I choose to design.

Well perhaps I'm wrong but so far I've felt that my styles HAVE been very different, even if lots of them incorporated grunge, the ideas were fresh, for example compare this to my Killzone 2 box... I don't see much similarity.

Well I looked back, dmshaposv, and I think you're right actually on some parts. Maybe I shouldn't have made so many grunge boxes in a row but I still think they look different from each other - I'm working on a Counter-Strike: Source box right now and there is absolutely no grunge. It's coming out very well. Sorry if I sounded harsh, I just thought it was a little rough to say there aren't a lot of real artists here... as true as it may be, it came off as arrogant.

Thanks for the advice. If you hate this box, you'll like the next one. Haha

this is to the previous discussion about changing styles art. An artist is supposed to take in the feeling and emotions of the project and they represent it in a visual sense. it is the representation that differentiates from artist to artist. 'their style' will always be there in some form or another, but did they capture the essence of the project and SPIKE interest in another person to take notice and this did its job very nicely, awesome job dustgunner!
