My entry for Round 2 of HalfSwiss' La Competencia: link
The theme was to create a sequel to a game so I decided to make a spiritual successor to Red Dead Redemption. I actually made the slipcase first and then progressed onto the actual box. It's made from Western backdrops, film shots and Red Dead Redemption and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood screens. Here are some source images:
This seems more like a branch of RDR than a spiritual successor but I really like this box. I think the contrast is a bit high on the back but I like the front a lot and I like how it's neutral in color instead of red or blue. Good work.
Really great job. I could see this as being an official successor to RDR. The slip cover is fantastic, and I think the actual box looks very nice too, especially the front.
#8, GTA games rarely ever build upon the story of the previous games, and are all spiritual successors. Red Dead Redemption was a spiritual successor of Red Dead Revolver, so this is the same. Also, I was going for a high contrast, minimal colour back. Thanks for the favourite and feedback!
*SPOILER* *SPOILER* *SPOILER*
#10, I was thinking about it, although if you read the newspaper at the end, it says Eadgar Ross had retired - the man who killed John along with the army. So there couldn't be a direct sequel with his son... as there'd be nothing to do. The end of the game is 1914 anyway, the American West was practically at an end.
#14, not yet. I kind of stopped playing it after I'd completed the main story. I didn't know there was any other strangers - there was nothing left to do on my map. I'll go back on and have a look sometime tomorrow.
#14, I've just done that stranger quest. I guess it proves my point even more, as there couldn't really be a story with Jack Marston - there'd be nothing to do.
#5, Now that I think about it, I could ask you the same question about all of my covers. You have yet to leave one comment on any of my works, inFAMOUS 2 didn't count, (not a major problem at all considering no one really does anymore), but I feel like I shouldn't give someone feedback when they haven't shown me the same consideration back. (A bit immature but, I dunno).
I'm just wondering, there's no hint of you liking / disliking my work at all. (You don't need to comment on my works, it was a question of curiosity).
#20, I tend to only comment on people's works if I notice something in particular, I really like it, or really dislike it. I'm sorry if I haven't, some box thumbnails just don't catch my eye. In response to your post, it's just "The description text on the back has too thick of an outline" didn't seem like a big enough warrant to dislike the whole box (on the assumption that you didn't favourite it) - I was just curious what else you didn't like, it was in jest, man XD.
Good point, I have nothing to say back, although you know I like your works, just look back on what I've commented on. In my eyes receiving a fav is extra, receiving a comment means, (I saw your cover, and I respect you enough to tell you what and what I don't / do like).
A fav without a comment doesn't mean much, because I can't tell what you liked about it, vice versa.

Do you seriously think anyone can beat you now? We are all screwed. Like, "advanced screwed"
For my entry, my Gun 2 box, I used wallpapers from Tombstone.

Well the comp is pretty much in the bag now. :P

#2, it depends what people think of it first, it might not be very popular. It was the final entry so I decided to put a little bit more effort in.
#3, there must be something else that's putting you off this box? ;)

#5, The back overall, the outlines on the back looks too thick, the outline around the tagline, and the description text.

#6, ah right. It was just the style I was going for, being consistent with the front and all.
Just noticed Jevan un-faved my box, I'm just curious why? It's difficult to get people to leave feedback.

How could there be a sequel? If you truly beat the game....it's kind of over.
*SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER*
After John gets killed and you start playing as his son, you can track down Ross in an extra quest and do with him what you will.

red dead redemption is already a sequel. it is the sequel to red dead revolver for the PS2.

#31, thanks for the favourite. The theme was to make a sequel to any game, regardless if that game was already a sequel.
