Ok. So for starters, I am going to say that this is not my favourite box, but I made it a while back, and decided to post it anyway. For the summer comp, round one.
First of all, this is not an essence box. So I donÂ’t want to hear any crap about it not capturing essence :P
So you might say that this box actually has nothing to do with Super Smash Bros Brawl, but that is if you look at the box in one perspective – the perspective of going all out brute force to try and hurt other people.
But that is what basically all SSB boxes are like. I wanted to try something different.
The overall floral pattern is to showcase the creative, growing, full of life and even graceful side of the game.
On the front it shows the smash ball which is blowing out a stage in which fighters are brawling out – it isn’t random flowers. This is showing the power and life of the smash ball. On the back it shows different regions from the characters on a smash-ball like planet to show that all these characters worlds are colliding, because the smash ball means the “world” to all of the players.
So, I hope the concept makes more sense now and the art is seen to be more relavent.
The floral pattern throws me a bit. I don't think it has much to do with the game in spit of your explanation. However, I do see some symbols like a Hyrulian castle, a DK barrel and a Pikachu silhouette. Overall, it's a cool design but I would have like the floral patterns and what not to be a bit more visible.
#2, Haha, no problem. You're allowed to not like the floral stuff. And I will try making it a little more visible, but I want it to be subtle, so it wont be by much.
At least you explained all the flowers/brushes. Despite that though, I still don't really like it or see how it works with Smash Brothers. I do love how you placed images unique to each character and their world on the back however.
I'm really digging the back with all the unique items associated with each character, the front is amazing too, the floral pattern is a very interesting idea.
Design-wise, it's pretty amazing and beautiful. The flowers are really out of place for a Bros. game, but your explanation helps me to swallow it. Great and fantastic job!

If you make a box that people like YoshiStar and Eggboy'13 favorite, you know it's an awesome box. :D Great work!

Thanks you three. Honestly I was expecting less positive feedback than what I got, and I was fully expecting people to hate the design. So yeah. :)

The designs are really nice, but it really doesn't seem orientated to Smash Brothers despite that you used the logos.

Ooh, really cool. I think the vector brushes may be a bit over-used, but I love the overall idea, and the symbols on the back are very cool :)
