This is my entry for the VGBA Kickstart Boxart 2011 drive. The Mass Effect 3 logo is my creation based on the official logo. The back is comprised of a couple screenshots from the Spike Awards trailer. The screenshots are actually ME2 images as I could find no legitimate images for ME3 outside of the trailer.

I wanted the front to be a simple yet elegantly lit logo overlaid on a carbon fiber background. The carbon fiber actually covers the entire cover as its base. I used a modified screenshot of NormandyÂ’s engineering bay as my presentation.

I hope yÂ’all like it. Enjoy!

I really like the back but i think the front is a bit plain
Would you mind if i used the basic concept of the back in my ME3 box?

#2, You say plain, I say minimalistic. Please check out the printable; that might change your mind. I am using the front as my desktop wallpaper and it is anything but plain.

As for using my concept, as long as you do not use the same resources, I can't stop you.

Points from me for having enough gall to use a simple front on such a game that people think require flashiness.

You're going to get the "Blah, blah, blah, but the front is too plain" ocmment, but I like it, it's obvious there's no resources, and you didn't create a 700px png of a game cover, you made a printable, kudos.

Really hard to say this is minimalist or not. In my opinion, I don't think it is minimalist with logo and carbon bg, it's simple to me. I really like that front but I don't think it's fit here. It'll better if be a slipcover or wallpaper.
P.S: Want to see more from you :D

Great work, ESRB and EA logos could be bigger but who cares.

The back is fantastic, but the front, although it could work with an emptier back, just seems plain empty here. They're both good in their own respects, but together the styles clash. Though that's probably because of the lack of time you had on this. It's still really good!

#4 I completely agree with this, and in my opinion the box looks really nice. The simple front is realistic, in that its something you would see on an actual cover. For that you get my fav.

IMO, the front is boring and empty rather than minimalistic. Especially the way the logo floats above the middle, making the balance weird and making us desire more. The scanlines don't cut it either.. In full view they are extremely pixelated. My rule is unless its a web-based thing like a bg or a button graphic that will always remain the same size and will not undergo resizing, don't use scanlines. From different sizes, they appear to be solid tints, or maybe inconsistently sized lines.

LOOOOVE the logo, and yhr back isn't too bad (could be a lot better), but the front kinda doesn't work.

#6, I used color and lighting to give the front some ambiance. It IS simple by design. There is no official artwork that I can use for ME3. I did not want to use ME or ME2 artwork for the front, so I opted for the current design.

#7, Thanks. I originally made those logos about 25% larger but felt they stood out too much.

#8, Thanks. And what I said to #6, ditto that.

#9, Thanks. I too would love to see this on a store shelf. Compared to most boxes that sport very busy fronts, this design would stand out if it was placed in such a lineup.

I do agree with Ervo about the logos on the front, but that's nothing big. I happen to really like the front and spine too. It just seems to work well, and it looks great in full view and in the printable.

#10, Those are not scan lines, it is a carbon fiber pattern. I cannot change the fact the carbon fiber pattern may appear to be inconsistent at various resolutions.

To all of you who do not like the front, what do you feel I should have done, used assets from a previous Mass Effect game?

#10, as for the placement of the logo, I did not want to center it, as you normally do not want to center your focal points unless your image is a portrait. I placed the logo higher up, but that made the image far too unbalanced.
