Well, here it is, my latest creation.

The original SSB was my first all time favorite game as a kiddy IÂ’ve been wanting to make an essence box for a while now, and I noticed there really isnÂ’t a lot of essence boxes from the Smash series, so I went with this. Obviously, I was inspired by the official box art for the game and felt that in order to capture the essence of this, I would I have to stick with that retro comic-like theme. Also, the front seems a bit chaotic (not typical of essence boxes), but I felt that it best captures the essence of SSB.

The back cover was a bit more problematic, as you can see. I didnÂ’t know what to do with it for a long time and I was hell-bent on incorporating the Master Hand in there some way or another. I was also fidgeting with developer logos, such as HAL Laboratory and a Nintendo, but they just didnÂ’t flow with the rest of the design.

I searched all over the internet for suitable renders for the cover that would fit the comic theme ( many of them underwent some intensive editing, but itÂ’s hard to notice).

I used MGÂ’s Universal Essence Collection template to create my own rendition of a retro essence box. The Super Smash Bros. Logo was very easy to recreate, so thatÂ’s custom, I guess lolÂ… The title itself is Super Retro font that I messed around with to recreate the official title.

I really donÂ’t know what to think of it; I like I it, I suppose. But it feels like there is something missingÂ…

I also noticed that the reflection is a bit messed up, and it says "vgba" in the bottom right that is black and barely visable. i'm looking all over for suitable Samus and Link renders, i'm tired of searching =(

# 16 thanks..? I felt that the contrast was necessary to bring out the old-school retro comic feel.

Well... as you can see, I got this thing updated with new Samus and Link renders. The Samus render provided by sd1833 worked perfectly, whereas the Link render... uhhh.. blurrryy!! crap resolution!

I did everything i could to make that link render look somewhat clear. Every Link i found was either too small, not cartoony enough or wasn't striking the proper pose to flow with the design I got going here. If anyone knows of a Link render that fits the art style and is in a badass attacking position hit me up.

If you just don't view in full, its kinda hard to notice that Link is significantly blurrier that the others.

Had fun with this box, anyhow. tell me your thoughts. fav, critique.. do what you wish

Thanks, #25. personally, i believe it deserves to be in the Master Works. jkjkkjkkjk lol. but it would be cool if it got into the hall. It would be my first HoF =]
