Hello. Before making this, I hadn't done any graphics design in a while.

I love Wind Waker, and I tried my best to do it service, even though there are already beautiful box arts for it here (like Delicious1's and Brettska's for example).

This design actually went through two or three completely different versions, but finally I was inspired by the Japanese Wind Waker box and decided to recreate a similar feel. I hope you like it.

Special thanks to Zelda Wiki and Creative Uncut for providing most of the images.

Nice job for a first here, you show so much potential. And it is also good to know you browsed around the site before you posted.

You're the example of a great member! You come to the site, browse around for a bit to see how it's done, then you make this brilliant masterpiece! Hopefully more new members can look up to you as an example instead of just posting crappy MS Paint boxes. I love this box and you have earned yourself an author fav as well my good sir :)

Really nice work, combining the intro images plus the stained glass images plus the character renders. My only complaint is the halftone circle pattern over the characters and the window art... it looks really strange, as it isn't on any of the official art. Is it from scanning the art, or did you add it yourself? Oh, and your rendering could use some work... there are a lot of obvious white borders around the art where you cut it out of its background badly. But it's a nice design. You just need to spend more time on the details so that you maintain the art quality along with your design.

Off topic: What does G_S stand for?

Refreshing change of pace as a new member. Lovely colors, generally cool layout, and I like how you've implemented the introductory images describing the story of Link. I agree with Thunder about the halftone patter, although the white borders don't seem that noticeable to me.

Wow. Thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone!

sd1833 + Thunderhead: I added that halftone effect into the renders myself, because I thought it looked good at the time. I still have a file from an earlier version where I could rip it and off and update the box again - would you prefer that?

Oh, and to the second thing - it's a secret, for now :o. Although the answer isn't that exciting.

Updated! Based on everyone's feedback, I went back to an earlier file and removed the halftone effect from the images. Only Link and Grandma on the front of the box had to be wholly replaced - I tried to get the size as close as possible to the halftoned ones. If anyone preferred the box art the first way, you can click under it to view the earlier version :).

I also tried to cut out some of the white borders around the stained glass window on the back, but I don't really see any other areas where it's a problem. If anyone else sees a specific place that has white borders, let me know so I can fix it. Again, thanks for all the helpful comments!

This looks pretty nice, but in full view I have a few problems with it. One is the floating characters on the front. They seem really out of place to me, and I think moving them down towards the logo some or adding a ground for them to stand on would help out. I also feel like the colors clash quite a bit between the background and the characters/artwork on the back. Using some diverse colors in the background instead of the strong blues would add a lot to the box and make it more interesting, in my opinion. As for the background, I wish you had used a different one for both sides, instead of just flipping it horizontally. The artwork on the back also does not match the artwork of the characters on the front. The textures aren't the same, and it's much more rounded, unlike the straight cut/jagged artwork of the front. You definitely have a nice box going, but I think it could use some more work.

I really, really, really like this. On top of Spiderpig's critiques, I would say that I would like it if the awesome rainbow picture things in the background(haven't played the game, ahah) had a lower opacity, they are just too bright at the moment. I will fave it though, this is remarkable, and needs a ton more attention.

Original, simplistic and interesting - you've got quite the combo here. I'm going to give you a favourite, and also promote this box.

Oh, and I'm also going to author favourite you (which I rarely do) as I want to keep an eye on your next set of designs.
