This time, you CAN look in full view but it's not really necessary.

Okay, so this is for round 2 of the VGBA Cup, the theme is third generation console games. After failed designs for both Mortal Kombat and Metal Gear, I decided to go with Ninja Gaiden.
FYI, the "blocks" on the front are SUPPOSED to be cut off before the spine, it's not an error.
How could you have done Mortal Kombat anyway? I am almost 100% that a Mortal Kombat game didn't hit consoles until the next generation.
Anyway, I would have liked to see some non-pixel artwork, but I know it's hard to come across, so you would have had to likely make your own. That said, this looks pretty sweet.
#2, Thank you. I found some non-pixel art, but it was very small and very low-res. According to Wikipedia, the original Mortal Kombat was on the Sega Master System.
I gotta agree about the pixel art, it would have looked more official with traditional artwork. I know a lot of NES games used pixel artwork for box art, but not like this.
Other than that small complaint, it looks really good, well composed and I really like that the template is different, but not unofficial looking.
While this kind of pixel-art wasn't used in the 80's, it was within the realm of possibility, and I personally think it's a believable cover (If a little progressive in a design sense.)
I think it looks really good, which is surprising since it's composed of nothing but in-game NES screenshots. I'm impressed with your resourcefulness. I also like that the spine bleeds onto the cover for a little bit (But if it were just a little bit more, it would be more obvious that it was intentional, rather than a mistake.)
I actually really like how this turned out. Although it doesn't necessarily look like something that would actually exist, the art itself is definitely retro enough, and flows really well.

Loving the box man, but like they said, you should have used official artwork.
Although, the way you pulled this off with pixel art is fantastic!

Pretty cool layout on the front, and the cover as a whole does well to capture the retro feel. Nice one.

interesting, but also confusing for an old school box

I really like how you designed this with very limited artwork, very creative.

Oh wow, I missed this. Awesome job. I had this game, and I have to say this box feels perfect for it. Also, thanks for crediting my template.
